Alexander Isak is very much back for Newcastle United.

It was a slow start to the season for Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever. Goals were not flowing, while Alexander Isak was then hit by injury.

But now the 25-year-old is fully fit again, and proving why he is one of the Premier League’s elite centre-forwards. Isak has scored four goals in his last four Newcastle United games, taking his tally for the season to five.

He scored his latest during the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest, which resulted in Theo Walcott comparing Isak to Thierry Henry.

The goals are flowing once again, but his impact in the final third is not the only attribute that makes Alexander Isak special.

Ben Foster hails ‘incredible’ Alexander Isak attribute

That is the view of Ben Foster, who has spoken about the Newcastle striker on the latest episode of The Football Fill-In on YouTube.

The former goalkeeper asked if Isak could play for any team in the Premier League, before analysing his work off the ball and his physicality.

“Look at him, like physically, he doesn’t look like he’s that big, does he?” he said.

“He looks a bit skinny, if anything, but he puts it about as well and his work rate is incredible. He doesn’t shy out from a tackle, he’s happy getting on the end of balls into the box with headers.

“And yeah, I reckon he could, I think he could play for any team in the Premier League.”

Isak has become stronger since Newcastle transfer

As Foster says, Isak does not look like a physical striker. He is rangy, but has become much stronger since signing for Newcastle in August 2022.

Isak is definitely more physical nowadays. While he can still improve with his back to goal, he certainly has gotten better.

And his work off the ball is sensational. Isak is a great presser, which is why Eddie Howe identified him as the perfect forward for his Newcastle United team.

Isak is good enough for any Premier League team

In fact, he would be perfect for any Premier League team.

Foster is right – Isak could play for any team in the league. Luckily, he plays for Newcastle United, despite suggestions that he should represent a ‘bigger club’.

Paul Merson recently stated that Isak is Arsenal’s missing link, while he was a target for Chelsea during the summer.

But while pundits bemoan the fact that Isak is not at one of the ‘big six’, Newcastle will be focussed on playing at a level that means they do not need to worry about losing their super Swede. That means returning to the Champions League in the very near future.
