Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been electric so far this season.

The Swede has been an absolute joy to watch for the Magpies throughout the campaign. At times, it has felt like Isak has single-handedly guided Newcastle into a Champions League spot.

Newcastle take on Fulham at St James’ Park on Saturday where he has the chance to add to his 17 Premier League goals this season, a number only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have bettered.

His form has caused Arsenal to develop a firm interest, but Newcastle are not willing to let him go for cheap.

Newcastle want £150m for Isak, a clear ‘hands-off’ warning to the Gunners. The Magpies are now keen to hand Isak a new contract to dispose of any interest in their star player.

Arsenal fans love Isak and are desperate for their club to sign him. Even former Arsenal man Paul Merson could not help but mention Isak to Arsenal when he made his production for Newcastle’s upcoming game.

With a new deal possible soon, Isak has made his priorities clear.

Alexander Isak isn’t thinking about improved Newcastle United deal

Despite constant links with a move to Arsenal, Isak is completely unfazed.

The Swede is under contract at St James’ Park until 2028, so Newcastle does not need to offer him a new deal immediately. However, a long-term deal would give Newcastle fans and club staff peace of mind that he will be at the club for many years to come.

According to TeamTalk, Isak is fully focused on Newcastle and scoring goals for the team. There is absolutely no chance he will leave the club before the transfer window closes.

Newcastle are pushing for Champions League football which Isak is believed to be eager to play in next season.

The Magpies are currently fifth in the Premier League table which could just be enough for them to secure a return to Europe’s top competition if English clubs keep up their fantastic form in the European competitions.

The report also states that Isak is ‘untouchable’ for now and that even if he does not sign a contract extension at the end of the season it would take a British record fee to sign him.

What Alexander Isak wants in his Newcastle United contract

While Newcastle will be eager to wrap up Isak’s new deal quickly, the Swede wants a few things that need to be discussed.

Isak wants to be Newcastle’s highest earner. The 25-year-old currently earns £120,000 per week but if the club wants him to sign they must offer him more than Bruno Guimaraes’ £160,000 per week wage.

Recent reports also suggest that Isak wants Newcastle’s number nine shirt currently worn by Callum Wilson.

The injury-prone Wilson is out of contract at the end of the season and there has been no sign of renewal talks. The shirt could soon be available for him.

The Magpies may have to give into his demands if they want to keep him at the club long-term.
