Alexander Isak has once again proved his worth after Newcastle visited the Emirates Stadium.

The Swede’s first-half strike brought his goal tally at Newcastle up to 50, having overtaken Callum Wilson in the Magpies win against Tottenham on Saturday.

Isak nearly scored a second, but his effort was parried by David Raya, but only as far as Anthony Gordon who fired in the rebound from close range.

The result gives Newcastle all the impetus they need to hit the ground running in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at St James’ Park. A good result will take Eddie Howe’s side one step closer to Newcastle’s first major trophy win since 1969.

Howe came into the game acting like it was no big deal, he chose not to sit back and went after it. Fortunately for him, Newcastle go back to St James’ Park with a two-goal advantage.

Isak was linked with a move to Arsenal. But Howe and sporting director Paul Mitchell have dug their heels in. Newcastle slapped a £150million price tag on Isak, a clear hands-off warning.

Isak was on fire once again and Arsenal fans online knew it.

Arsenal fans react to Alexander Isak’s performance

Isak was a constant threat to Arsenal’s back-line, causing problems through the middle and on the right wing.

Arsenal fans have now reacted to the 24-year-old’s performance on X.

“Reminder that Gordon and Isak each cost less than Havertz,” wrote one fan. Another added: “Trossard & Havertz have offered us nothing. Look at how sharp Isak is and his contribution other than his goals.”

Many fans compared Kai Havertz to Isak, with one saying: “Just look at the difference between Isak and Havertz. Staggering.”

Another fan added: “Isak is showing how deadly you can be going forward when you have a proper striker up there.”

Fair play to NUFC more clinical when mattered. Isak is unbelievable. We had chances to at least get a draw and probably more but we do not have a player like Isak. That’s the difference.” wrote one fan.

Finally, this fan said: “Isak is absolutely bossing & tearing apart the best defence in the world…”

Anthony Gordon recreates Thierry Henry celebration

Gordon was another player on fire against Arsenal – a second huge win in North London in less than a week.

The 23-year-old’s goal was in front of the 6,000 Newcastle fans who made the trip to the capital to see their team.

Upon scoring, Gordon ran to the corner flag and paid homage to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry with his celebration.

At times, Isak has been likened to Henry for his technical ability and agility. Henry is bound to be impressed with the Swede after that game, in his old backyard of all places.
