There is now less than a week remaining in the transfer window.

It remains to be seen how busy Newcastle will be in that time, but they have only made one signing so far.

It’s fair to say the fans have been more than a little frustrated about the stagnation.

If Newcastle are to get back into the market, here are some deals that could come to fruition in the coming days:

Matty Longstaff out

Steve Bruce has suggested that a loan exit could be imminent for the midfielder.

He needs regular gametime after seeing his career stagnate last season under Bruce.

Longstaff has the ability to make an impact in the EFL and Sheffield United, Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town are among the teams interested.

Maxwell Cornet in

It has been reported that Newcastle are weighing up a late bid for Lyon’s Maxwell Cornet.

He would cost around £15 million and there is competition from Burnley and West Ham for his services.

That all means it’s an outside bet for now, but he is a player of great versatility and quality.

Hamza Choudhury in

Bruce recently refused to comment on Choudhury but there has been long term interest in the Leicester man.

Newcastle need another midfielder to add bite and energy. If Longstaff leaves, that frees up a space in the squad as well as wages.

Choudhury is raw and needs to get a run of games in the Premier League, and might look at Joe Willock’s loan spell last season as evidence of what can happen.

Santiago Munoz in

It has been claimed that Newcastle are close to signing Munoz.

Munoz is just 19, and it’s likely that he would go straight into the Under-23 side if he does join Newcastle.

This one would be one for the future when Newcastle need reinforcements now.
