Newcastle United’s impressive academy stars could end up saving the club millions in future transfer windows.
It was a very underwhelming summer for Newcastle United after the club failed to land any of their major transfer targets.
Multiple bids were rejected by Crystal Palace for Marc Guehi and a late £50m push for Anthony Elanga was also turned down.
Pressure is now mounting on new sporting director Paul Mitchell with reports that his future is in doubt after a disappointing summer.
Kieran Trippier was also a big talking point this summer after he asked to leave, but Mitchell and Eddie Howe were in agreement that he should stay at the club.

Kieran Trippier’s future at Newcastle United
There was interest in Trippier from Turkey this summer, but the 33-year-old is now set to stay put on Tyneside after the club blocked a move.
However, there is still a chance that Trippier could leave in January or next summer, and when he does Newcastle will be lacking depth at right-back.
Tino Livramento has taken Trippier’s starting position, but Howe will need a second option if Trippier leaves.
Newcastle have been linked with a £19 move for Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries, but such a deal would chew into the club’s budget for other postitions.
Leo Shahar is the perfect Kieran Trippier replacement
Livramento has already proved that he is good enough to start regularly for Newcastle so there is no need for a big-name signing at right-back.
Especially when Newcastle have an academy gem as promising as Leo Shahar ready to make his breakthrough.

Newcastle signed Shahar from Wolves’ academy in the summer of 2023 and he has been impressive in the youth setup.
Now 17 years old, he is shining in Newcastle’s Under-21s side and Shahar was praised earlier this year for his “amazing” crossing ability.
Darren Ryan, the Head of player development at Wolves spoke highly of Shahar in 2023: “Every time I watch him playing for England he looks comfortable within the environment. We know how good he is technically and yes there are things he needs to improve on, but the more camps he’s on and the more call-ups he’s getting, the more comfortable he’s looking.
With Trippier set to move on from the club, Newcastle should be putting their faith in Shahar to be the back-up option to Livramento at right-back.
