Anthony Elanga has revealed that he has spoken to Swedish teammate Alexander Isak about Newcastle United’s transfer interest.
The Magpies made a last-gasp push to sign Anthony Elanga this summer with a £50m bid rejected by Nottingham Forest in the final hours of the transfer window.
Newcastle United had shown an interest in Elanga earlier in the summer and considered trying to include him in Elliot Anderson’s move to Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle revisited the deal after missing out on other targets but they left it too late and were left emptyhanded.
But a right-sided winger remains a top priority for Newcastle, who will surely dip into the market either in January or next summer. Anthony Elanga could once again be on their radar.

Anthony Elanga reveals Alexander Isak talks
Isak was one of 12 Newcastle players on international duty this week, and he was joined in the Sweden squad by Elanga.
Alexander Isak has enjoyed a superb week with his national side, earning rave reviews from Swedish media for his performance against Estonia on Sunday evening.
Elanga has now revealed that he has spoken to Isak about Newcastle’s interest with the duo sharing “good chemistry”.
Speaking to Fotboll Skanalen, Elanga said “It is clear that you can see that Newcastle are interested, it means that I am playing good football when a big club shows interest.
“But Nottingham is also a big club, they have won two Champions Leagues, even though it was before I was born. But I’m happy in Nottingham and have a contract there.”
“Isak talked to me about it. But I said the same to him as I say to you. We have a good relationship and good chemistry when we play together. But I have a contract with Nottingham.”
Newcastle should revisit Anthony Elanga deal
The £50m attempt to sign Elanga in the summer was nothing short of desperation, but with more planning and time, Newcastle should reignite their interest.
He has proven himself capable of performing in the Premier League and would fit into Eddie Howe’s energetic style.

Anthony Gordon and Isak make up two-thirds of a world-class front line – the right side is the missing piece.
But in Elanga, Newcastle would add another young and hungry attacker to their arsenal. He already has a good relationship with Isak and it would add another dimension to Newcastle going forward.
If a reasonable agreement can be reached in January – or next summer – Newcastle should pounce.
