Eddie Howe and Paul Mitchell need to work together for Newcastle United to be successful.
It has not been the best start to their relationship at Newcastle United, with the Magpies failing to make any major signings during the summer transfer window.
Paul Mitchell deflected the blame away from himself, despite the sporting director being the one who failed to get the Marc Guehi deal over the line.
Mitchell’s comments did not go down well, and they hinted at a sense of unrest behind the scenes at St James’ Park.
But now the Newcastle United manager and sporting director are singing from the same hymn sheet, with Howe and Mitchell preparing to identify January transfer targets.
Paul Mitchell backs Eddie Howe’s decision
They will need to agree on who to bring in, while they are already in agreement over a player who is currently at Newcastle United.

According to Newcastle World, Paul Mitchell is completely supportive of Eddie Howe’s desire to keep Kieran Trippier at the club.
The 33-year-old has been linked with a move away, with Kieran Trippier asking to leave Newcastle amid interest from Turkey.
However, it has been reported that the interested Turkish clubs will not be signing Trippier, and that the £12million man will remain on Tyneside until at least January.
Newcastle get Kieran Trippier decision right
It has been no surprise that Eddie Howe has wanted to keep Trippier at the club. He is a top quality player, and a hugely influential character within the dressing room.
Newcastle would lose so much by letting him go, despite his desire to join a new team.
Fortunately, Mitchell is in agreement with Howe, and also believes that Trippier should not be allowed to leave Newcastle.
That is the correct decision, even if it goes against Trippier’s wishes. With no chance of bringing in a replacement, it would be a huge mistake if the Magpies allowed him to leave. And there would have been even more tension behind the scenes if Mitchell had seen things differently to Howe.
Thankfully, they are aligned. Trippier is not leaving, and his future will have to be reassessed when the January transfer window opens.
