Newcastle United need to sign a forward in 2025.

The Magpies are heavily reliant on Alexander Isak, who is arguably the best striker in world football right now.

But Newcastle United need to give him more cover, with Eddie Howe rarely able to rotate the 25-year-old due to Callum Wilson’s injury.

It is also likely that Callum Wilson leaves Newcastle this summer, which highlights the need for the Magpies to add a new forward to their squad. Given his rawness, Howe cannot rely on Will Osula to be Isak’s deputy just yet.

Liverpool not in the race to sign Newcastle target Stefanos Tzimas

That is why Paul Mitchell is looking for reinforcements, and he may have spotted a possible recruit.

It was reported in December last year that Newcastle United are looking at Stefanos Tzimas, who is impressing during a loan spell with Nuremberg.

The German side are planning to sign Tzimas permanently from PAOK this summer, before selling him on for a profit.

That could present the Magpies with an opportunity, and now Paul Mitchell has been handed a boost.

That is because, according to the Athletic’s James Pearce, Liverpool are not interested in signing Tzimas.

That is one less club for Newcastle to worry about, with plenty of sides keen on the 19-year-old forward. Brighton have been linked with Tzimas, who has scored eight goals this season.

Newcastle United already have one attacker arriving in 2025

Newcastle have their eye on Tzimas, as Mitchell aims to bring more young talent to St James’ Park.

The Magpies want to sign more players with potential, with the view to improving them and incorporating them into their first-team or selling them for profit.

That will be the plan with Vakhtang Salia, who will officially become a Newcastle United player in August when he turns 18-years-old.

Newcastle are very excited about Salia, and the teenager is not short of confidence ahead of his move to the North East. Salia says he will prove how good he is, as Newcastle pull off a transfer coup.

Hopefully it will not be the last of 2025, as the Magpies keep an eye on Tzimas’ future as well.
