Newcastle United are looking to continue their youth recruitment drive in the upcoming transfer windows
The Magpies have already signed several young talents to play for their youth teams like Trevan Sanusi, Cathal Heffernan and Travis Hernes.
In January 2024, Newcastle signed Alfie Harrison from Manchester City for £3.5m if performance clauses are met.
Harrison was spotted in first-team training last season after impressing in his short time within the youth ranks.
It hasn’t stopped there as there have also been changes to staff including appointing Diarmuid O’Carroll as new under-21s manager following the departure of Ben Dawson.
Now, Sporting Director Paul Mitchell has his sights set on the next possible young player who could make their way into Newcastle’s first-team squad, this time from Germany by way of Greece.

Newcastle United, Chelsea and Aston Villa eyeing a move for Stefanos Tzimas
The Greek forward is currently on loan at 2. Bundesliga side Nurnberg from PAOK FC and has made a great impression so far this season. In just 14 games, Tzimas has bagged seven goals and two assists in the league.
According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Newcastle isn’t the only club interested in the 18-year-old. Chelsea and Aston Villa are also chasing Tzimas’ signature. Plettenberg suggests that Nurnburg will activate his €18m (£14.9m) option with the intention of selling him in the summer to generate immediate profit from the sale.
Bundesliga side Stuttgart are also interested in signing Tzimas but they have deemed the price too high.
At 18, he is considered one of the brightest talents in Greece so interest from the Premier League is no surprise. Tzimas fits the bill for Newcastle now Paul Mitchell wants to recruit youth from overseas which could prove to be a big help to alleviate the ongoing PSR problems the club faces.
Stefanos Tzimas could be the perfect replacement for Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson
Newcastle tried to improve their attack in the summer by signing William Osula from Sheffield United but has been given a limited amount of playing time.
Callum Wilson recently returned to the squad and featured in games against West Ham, Liverpool and Brentford. But Wilson announced another injury setback which could keep him out for as long as two months. The injury leaves Wilson’s Newcastle career hanging in the balance with his contract running out.
With Osula still not looking ready and Wilson’s contract expiring at the end of the season Newcastle boss Eddie Howe must not look at someone like Tzimas who is young, fit and has experience playing a good level of football on a weekly basis.
