12 Newcastle United players are on international duty over the next week or so. Here’s every Magpies star involved and the fixtures they could feature in.
Seven points out of a possible nine and sitting fifth in the Premier League table, Newcastle United enter the international break in a positive position.
Winning without particularly playing well is a good sign for any team and Magpies supporters ultimately won’t care how their team plays, if they carry on climbing the table.
Eddie Howe however will know his side has to improve after the internationals and will see the break as an ample opportunity to plan for Toon Army’s return to action against Wolves on September 15.
The Magpies boss will also be hoping none of his first-team squad pick up any unwanted injuries over the international break as many Newcastle stars jet off to play for their country
With that being said, which Toon players are leaving St James’ Park on international duty? You can find out here on Geordie Boot Boys.
Anthony Gordon, Nick Pope and Tino Livramento – England

Nations League
- Republic of Ireland (Saturday, September 7)
- Finland (Tuesday, September 10)
Lee Carsley made a number of eye-catching selections in his first England squad, one of those being Toon full-back Tino Livramento. Having featured for the Three Lions youth sides on a number of occasions, the youngster could win his first senior cap against Finland or the Republic of Ireland.
Anthony Gordon meanwhile will see these internationals as the perfect opportunity to impress new boss Carsley, following the disappointment of his lack of minutes at Euro 2024.
Newcastle shot-stopper Nick Pope returns to the squad having missed the Euros, set to feature alongside Jordan Pickford and Dean Henderson.
Alexander Isak – Sweden

Nations League
- Azerbaijan (Thursday, September 5)
- Estonia (Sunday, September 8)
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Alexander Isak bag a few goals over the international break as he leads the Sweden frontline against Azerbaijan and Estonia. Newcastle fans will be watching with their fingers crossed, hoping the striker returns to St James’ Park with no unwanted injuries.
Odysseas Vlachodimos – Greece

Nations League
- Finland (Saturday, September 7)
- Republic of Ireland (Tuesday, September 10)
Odysseas Vlachodimos is yet to feature for the Newcastle first-team this season so will see these internationals as the perfect opportunity to get some minutes in the tank.
Sandro Tonali – Italy

Nations League
- France (Friday, September 6)
- Israel (Monday, September 9)
Having made his long-awaited Newcastle return against Nottingham Forest last week, Sandro Tonali is also set to return to international football with Italy.
The Magpies midfielder will be hoping to inject some new life into the Azzurri, following their dismal performance at Euro 2024.
Martin Dubravka – Slovakia

Nations League
- Estonia (Thursday, September 5)
- Azerbaijan (Sunday, September 8)
Martin Dubravka is ultimately in the same boat as Vlachodimos, having failed to feature for the Toon so far this season. The keeper though will be looking to build upon Slovakia’s impressive display at this summer’s European Championships.
Bruno Guimaraes – Brazil

World Cup Qualifiers
- Ecuador (Saturday, September 7)
- Paraguay (Wednesday, September 11)
Bruno Guimaraes has become a key part of the Brazil side in recent times and returns to the Celecao squad for their World Cup qualifiers. The midfielder however will not be joined by fellow Brazilian Joelinton, who was not included in Dorival Junior’s squad.
Miguel Almiron – Paraguay

World Cup Qualifiers
- Uruguay (Saturday, September 7)
- Brazil (Wednesday, September 11)
Miguel Almiron will face off against fellow Geordie star Guimaraes during the international break, with the pair set to meet in Paraguay’s World Cup qualifier with Brazil
Youth team call-ups
- Lewis Hall – England U21
- William Osula – Denmark U21
- Alex Murphy – Republic of Ireland U21
