Anthony Gordon is one of the quickest players at Newcastle United, but Jamaal Lascelles believes that another player is also in contention.
Eddie Howe has built a very quick team, with Newcastle United boasting some brilliant runners. One of those is Joe Willock, who Alexander Isak thinks is the fastest in possession at St James’ Park.
But he is not the only speedster who dons the famous black and white stripes. There are plenty of other contenders in the race to be Newcastle’s fastest player.
The honour probably goes to Anthony Gordon. He has recorded the quickest speed, after all.
However, Jamaal Lascelles thinks that Tino Livramento should also be in the conversation.
Lascelles says Livramento is almost as fast as Gordon
Lascelles and Livramento have appeared in a video on Newcastle United’s official YouTube channel, and they were both asked to name the fastest player at the club right now.
They both picked Gordon, but Lascelles hinted that the defender is also a contender.
“I’d say I’m not the fastest in the squad,” Livramento said.
“You’re up there though,” Lascelles responded.

Newcastle signed someone very different to Kieran Trippier
Lascelles is very complimentary towards Livramento and is speed, and it just sums up how different he is to Kieran Trippier.
The 21-year-old was signed to be Trippier’s understudy, but they are very different players. Livramento is athletic and can drive with the ball, while Trippier’s biggest asset is his delivery.
We have seen a few examples of Livramento’s speed with the ball – away to Man United, his goal against Wolves. It is clear why Theo Walcott likened him to Gareth Bale all those years ago.
But Livramento is not quite as quick as Gordon, who is Newcastle’s chief speedster. His pace is outrageous, and it is a key reason why he is so good as a player.
Now Gordon is using his speed to get goals and assists, as he becomes a more rounded player – and someone who could make his England debut against Brazil on Saturday.
