After the first weekend of the new season, the fastest player in the Premier League belongs to Newcastle United.
It was a perfect start for the Magpies, who went top of the league thanks to the 5-1 win over Aston Villa at St James’ Park.
There were some standout performances from the likes of Sandro Tonali and Alexander Isak, while Anthony Gordon was also exceptional.
The 22-year-old received a huge amount of praise from Alan Shearer, who thought the Toon winger was ‘superb’ against Villa. He certainly was, providing an assist and playing a huge role in Isak’s second goal of the game.
It was an outstanding performance from Gordon, who has started the new season in spectacular fashion. Not only that, but he is also currently the fastest player in the Premier League.

Anthony Gordon was the fastest player in the Premier League this weekend
According to the Daily Mail, Gordon was the fastest player during the opening weekend of the 2023/24 Premier League season.
Using figures provided by Stats Perform, they state that the Newcastle number 10 recorded a speed of 22.14 miles per hour.
That was faster than anyone else in the Premier League, with Burnley’s Ameen Al-Dakhil in second place. He was followed by Pedro Neto and Anthony Elanga in third and fourth respectively.
Rounding out the top five was Manchester City veteran Kyle Walker, who Gordon will be facing this weekend.
Newcastle travel to the Etihad to take on the champions, and you have to imagine that Gordon will be going one-on-one with Walker.

Last season we saw Allan Saint-Maximin terrorise the England international with his speed and dribbling ability, and Eddie Howe will be eager for Gordon to do the same.
It should be a great battle between Gordon and Walker, and it will be a real test to see just how much the Newcastle attacker has improved in recent months.
His speed was deadly against Aston Villa, and hopefully it will help him be even more dangerous in gameweek two.
