Despite the fact the transfer window is yet to open, the sagas are already starting for Newcastle United.
We’ve already seen contrasting reports emerge in regards to the likes of Gabri Veiga and Dominik Szoboszlai, while the James Maddison situation continues to rumble on.
Clearly, not every player linked with Newcastle can sign for the club but there are some names in particular to keep an eye out for.

In particular, Scott McTominay has been touted as a target for months and Fabrizio Romano has already claimed the club have tracked the Scotland international since January.
Still, actually signing him is another thing.
Scott McTominay wants to stay at Manchester United
Though a lack of regular game time was said to have led to McTominay holding talks with Erik ten Hag, it seems he may not be on the move after all.
Indeed, The Athletic now claim that while Newcastle are interested in the 26-year-old, McTominay has other ideas.
They suggest the midfielder’s preference would be to stay at Manchester United despite admiring glances from St James’ Park and Everton.
The report doesn’t specify if he will be sold or not, though it seems the player would like to continue.

Hard to blame McTominay
While not always the most fashionable name on the Man United team sheet, it’d be hard to blame McTominay for wanting to stay.
The midfielder has been at the club his whole career, working his way up through the youth ranks to become a first-team option. Hailed as “special” by Jose Mourinho during his time there, that emotional attachment must surely count for something.
Newcastle, of course, will be a hugely attractive destination for a lot of players this summer now they are back in the Champions League.
With McTominay seemingly eager to stay and those at Old Trafford unlikely to do Newcastle any favours in regards to a potential price tag anyway, perhaps the club should move on.
