Southampton boss drops big hint on whether Newcastle United will sign Tyler Dibling before the deadline

Newcastle United continue to be linked for moves with a new right winger.

While goals haven’t been much of a problem for Newcastle this season, the lack of compelling options out on the right has been the topic of much discussion.

Newcastle have Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron available as things stand, though that may not be a long-term thing.

Almiron is expected to leave Newcastle to return to former club Atlanta United, weakening the options available to manager Eddie Howe.

Murphy has impressed for Newcastle this season, although it would hardly be controversial to suggest the club could sign an upgrade at some point.

To that end, Tyler Dibling has been linked with a move.

Still, Southampton manager Ivan Juric has spoken about the teenage forward.

Southampton make Tyler Dibling statement ahead of Newcastle bid

Newcastle are expected to bid for Dibling at some point in 2025.

The 18-year-old has been one of few bright sparks for Saints during an otherwise miserable campaign but is likely to miss Saturday’s clash with Howe’s side through injury.

Dibling has scored four goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this season and, given his age, is said to be attracting big interest from around the Premier League and beyond.

Juric, however, is confident the teenager will be staying at St Mary’s Stadium during the January transfer window at least.

“There are no assurances in football, we know that,” he said.

“But I am pretty sure that I will be coaching Dibling all this year. He is very motivated, like we see in the game.

“I saw him really focused, concentrated. No problem.”

£55m Newcastle transfer target Tyler Dibling compared to Jack Grealsih

Southampton value Dibling at £55million at the very least this month, surely making the idea of Newcastle signing the player difficult.

Indeed, Newcastle are not guaranteed to sign anyone in January given the PSR restrictions that remain in play at St James’ Park.

Newcastle think Dibling has huge potential and it will be fascinating to see if the interest is revisited during the summer transfer window.

At that point, however, rival interest from other big clubs could complicate matters.

Dibling has been compared to a young Jack Grealish and is outperforming the Manchester City star in some key metrics this season.

Producing those kind of numbers in a struggling team underline what a talent Dibling already is.
