Newcastle United desperately need to strengthen their squad in 2025.
That did not happen in 2024, with Newcastle United failing to make any major signings.
The Magpies will aim to change that this year, as Paul Mitchell alters Newcastle’s transfer strategy. He wants the club to target younger players with potential rather than readymade stars, as well as domestic players whose contracts are winding down.
Newcastle United interested in Tyler Dibling
That could result in Newcastle United moving for Tyler Dibling, whose current Southampton deal expires in 2026 with the option of another year.
Dibling was linked with Newcastle last year, and now talk of the 18-year-old moving to Tyneside has intensified.
The Daily Mail claim that Southampton teenager Dibling is a target for Newcastle, almost three years since Dan Ashworth tried to bring him to Tyneside.
Unfortunately, Ashworth missed out, and Dibling has since gone on to make his professional debut for Southampton and shine in the Premier League.

He is a really special talent, which is why talk of interest from Newcastle United is incredibly exciting.
But will the Magpies make a move for Dibling in 2025? Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope certainly thinks so, as he predicts a Toon approach for the attacker on his YouTube channel.
“I have had it confirmed from my sources this week that strong interest [in Dibling] remains,” he said.
“Will Tyler Dibling to Newcastle United happen this month? I would say it is unlikely. But certainly I think there will be conversations being had there. It is one to watch going forward for 2025.
“I think there will be an attempt there at some point to sign Tyler Dibling.”
Dibling ticks so many boxes for Newcastle United
The only disappointment is that Newcastle did not sign Dibling when they moved for him in 2022.
But now the Magpies could make up for lost time, as they try to tempt the teenager to Tyneside in 2025.
While he is still very raw, Dibling clearly has the potential to play at an even higher level than Southampton. He looks destined to play for England in the future, and Eddie Howe can help him achieve that goal.
Newcastle want a new right winger, and Dibling looks like the ideal candidate. With him on the right alongside Tino Livramento and Anthony Gordon and Lewis Hall on the left, the Magpies’ flanks could be sorted for the next 10 years.
Those four together are a tantalising prospect, especially when you consider how much better Dibling could become from working with a manager like Howe. He is already incredibly talented, with Dion Dublin comparing Dibling to Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer during an appearance on Match Of The Day in December.
That is very high praise, and hopefully Newcastle are able to strike a deal to sign him from Southampton in 2025 – even if a January transfer is unlikely.
