Newcastle United are in the market for a right winger, and would love to sign someone as gifted as Jack Grealish.

The Magpies failed to sign a wide player during the summer transfer window, with Newcastle United’s late approach for Anthony Elanga rejected by Nottingham Forest.

That pursuit reeked of desperation, with other Newcastle United targets such as Michael Olise and Pedro Neto moving elsewhere.

Whether Elanga remains on Newcastle’s radar remains to be seen, but it feels likely that attacking reinforcements will be top of Paul Mitchell’s to-do list when the January transfer window arrives.

Despite the relentless pursuit of Marc Guehi this summer, it has been reported that Newcastle’s current January priority is to sign a winger.

Southampton wonderkid on Newcastle’s radar

It is unclear whether he would be a target for January or if he is just a player that Newcastle have their eye on, but TalkSPORT have linked the Magpies with Southampton sensation Tyler Dibling.

According to TalkSPORT, Newcastle United have got Dibling on their radar, with Southampton expecting interest in the 18-year-old winger to intensify following his bright start to the season.

The teenager made his Premier League debut during Southampton’s 1-0 defeat to Newcastle on the opening day of the season, while he started in the Premier League for the first time at the weekend.

Dibling was on the right of attack as the Saints lost 3-0 to Manchester United, with teammate Cameron Archer missing a first half penalty that would have put them in front.

It was a brutal defeat for Southampton, who continued their rotten return to the top flight.

However, there was huge excitement when it came to Dibling’s performance. He was a real livewire down the Southampton right, and caused Diogo Dalot so many problems.

Dibling even won the aforementioned penalty, which was saved by Man United goalkeeper Andre Onana.

Despite the result, TNT Sports pundit Peter Crouch admitted that Dibling was ‘fantastic’ in a red and white shirt, while TalkSPORT commentator Stuart Pearce likened the youngster to Manchester City and England star Jack Grealish.

With his floppy hair, rolled down socks and dribbling ability, it is no surprise to see Dibling compared to Grealish.

Newcastle tried to sign Dibling in 2022

Given his efforts so far in the Premier League, it is understandable why Dibling is on Newcastle United’s radar.

They are in the market for a winger, while they are always looking for players who are yet to truly achieve their potential and will thus be less expensive.

However, the fear will be that Dibling’s talent is no longer a secret given his initial Premier League exploits.

He is clearly a player with a lot of potential, and it is potential that Newcastle knew he had a couple of years ago.

Dibling was a target for Newcastle in the summer of 2022, back when he was only 16-years-old.

Just months before those rumours surfaced, Dibling had actually netted a hat-trick at St James’ Park in a youth game against the Magpies.

Interest in Dibling was met with excitement, as Dan Ashworth set about bringing the most exciting young talent to the North East of England.

However, a deal was not done. Instead, Dibling would join Chelsea. However, he would quickly return to Southampton after just a couple of months due to failing to settle in his new surroundings.

Now he is a senior player at Southampton and someone who is impressing in the Premier League. Newcastle have him on their radar, and it will not be long until even more clubs join the queue.
