The story at Newcastle United this month has largely been of potential outgoings.
With Newcastle labouring on the FFP front, it’s been a very quiet window. Still, and while none have left, key players have been linked with a move away.
One of those is Jamaal Lascelles.
Thrust back into the first-team this season during Sven Botman’s injury, the defender has largely acquitted himself well.
Eddie Howe is believed to want to keep the defender at St James’ Park but he has so far been unable to agree an extension to the contract that runs out this summer.
As a result, he’s been linked with Besiktas, while Lyon have also been touted as a potential landing spot.
Jamaal Lascelles: Transfer latest
The Turkish giants are believed to be interested in offering the 30-year-old a reasonably long-term deal in order to leave Newcastle.
While Newcastle are believed to actively want to keep him now, his long-term future is obviously in doubt until he pens a new contract.

Jamaal Lascelles: Why Besiktas could still sign Newcastle defender after Deadline Day
Though we are approaching the end of the January transfer window, Besiktas do not need to try and rush through a deal quite as quickly.
Indeed, that’s because the Turkish transfer window does not close until February 9, 2024 (per Transfermarkt).
Able to talk to foreign clubs, there is still a chance he could leave Newcastle in February, or even agree a pre-contract with another suitor.
Though he remains a Newcastle player now, Lascelles could feasibly still depart, which may leave Howe light.
Botman may have returned but the idea of having to rely on him and Fabian Schar for every remaining game this season would be a worry, with Emil Krafth and Paul Dummett further down in the pecking order.
