The transfer window could start in positive fashion for Newcastle United.
After struggling to sign players in 2024, Newcastle United could finally be about to add to their squad.
Having seemingly come through the very worst of their PSR problems, Eddie Howe wants Newcastle to act quickly in the transfer market this summer.
Indeed, Newcastle are interested in signing Marc Guehi but he’s not the only Premier League star thought to be on the agenda.
Newcastle are looking to sign a right-winger this summer and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has again emerged on their radar.
The Cameroon international scored 20 Premier League goals for the Bees during the 2024/25 campaign. Only Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah bagged more.
Manchester United have also been linked with Mbeumo but Newcastle are confident about sealing a deal this summer.

Newcastle now confident of Bryan Mbeumo signing
Geordie Boot Boys spoke to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey.
He revealed that while Newcastle know rival clubs such as Manchester United are interested in signing the 25-year-old, they are confident they are best-placed to sign him after positive talks with the player’s camp.
| Player | Number of goals |
| Mohamed Salah | 29 |
| Alexander Isak | 23 |
| Erling Haaland | 22 |
| Bryan Mbeumo | 20 |
| Chris Wood | 20 |
| Yoane Wissa | 19 |
“They have always thought they were best placed,” he said.
“They know a few clubs not just Manchester United want him. Their talks with Mbeumo’s camp have gone well from the off, so it’s fair to say they are confident.
Brentford reportedly value Mbeumo at £54million, which surely has to be seen as good value.
Having proven he can score goals in the Premier League and with so much of his career ahead of him, that looks a potential bargain.
What Bryan Mbeumo has said about Newcastle United this season
The Cameroon star recently made an interesting admission about Newcastle.
In fact, Mbeumo admitted St James’ Park is one of his favourite stadiums, albeit he did also suggest Everton’s Goodison Park was up there too.
That will be music to the ears of Newcastle fans. The idea of him partnering Isak and Anthony Gordon up front is seriously exciting. With Jacob Murphy and Harvey Barnes also in the squad, Howe’s attacking options would be well-stocked.
Clearly, a deal is not yet done and there may be twists and turns to come. For now, however, there appears to be a positive feeling about signing Mbeumo.
