Miguel Almiron looks like one of the leading candidates to leave Newcastle United this month.

Newcastle may need to sell players before they can start buying again, such are the PSR limitations in play.

A number of names have been tipped to leave during this month’s transfer window and Almiron arguably looks the most likely.

The player’s agent has already admitted his client is unhappy with his lack of minutes under Eddie Howe, with Jacob Murphy ahead of him in the pecking order.

Both Joelinton and Anthony Gordon have been tried out of position on the right wing too, underlining just how far the Paraguayan is away from regular first-team minutes.

A move to Major League Soccer (MLS) side Charlotte FC has been touted for a while now, albeit the transfer broke down during this summer.

Still, it seems the American club remain fans of the 30-year-old.

Former Leicester defender Christian Fuchs is now the assistant coach of Charlotte FC and publicly praised Almiron, offering at least some indication that a move could be close.

“He’s a great player but I don’t really want to talk about him as he hasn’t signed yet,” he told Sky Sports (via The Chronicle).

“There are always a lot of names being associated with Charlotte FC and all I know is that once it is signed, Almiron will be a great addition to our club and I would really look forward to him joining us and playing for us.”

Newcastle want Miguel Almiron to leave this month

This could be the best thing for all parties. Almiron, as his agent has said, is not happy with his lack of minutes and could surely expect to get more in the way of starts should he return to MLS.

Newcastle, for their part, are understood to want to sell the player this month and Charlotte clearly rate him.

With plenty of options ahead of him on the right wing and a big signing there predicted at some point from a Newcastle perspective, his departure would hardly be leaving Howe short in attacking areas either.

Now feels like the right time for Almiron to go.
