Newcastle United did not sign a right winger over the course of the summer, forcing Eddie Howe into looking towards internal solutions.
While Newcastle were reportedly keen on a new option there, the budget just wouldn’t stretch that far during an underwhelming transfer window for the club.
As such, Howe has had to work with what he had last season, all while trying different players there in what has been a problem position for the team at times.
Anthony Gordon put in a fine cross for Alexander Isak during the win over Arsenal after moving out to the right wing, albeit he is said to believe he’s at his very best coming off the left.
Joelinton, meanwhile, impressed from that position during the win over Nottingham Forest, meaning Howe has options – even if none are absolutely perfect.
Quite where it leaves Newcastle’s actual right wingers, however, remains to be seen. Jacob Murphy impressed during pre-season but is yet to get going this year amid an injury issue of late.
Miguel Almiron, meanwhile, has been limited to just one Premier League start.
Linked with a move away this summer and tipped to potentially depart in January, the player’s agent has been speaking out about his client.

Miguel Almiron’s agent confirms he’s unhappy with his role at Newcastle
Daniel Campos admitted Almiron was unhappy with his lack of regular minutes with the club this season.
He told TYC Sports: “Although Miguel is not happy with the minutes he has in England, he wants to stay and fight for it at Newcastle.
“The coach [Eddie Howe] always supported him. When he made a request, he asked him not to leave. It must be a tactical or temporary issue.”
Miguel Almiron’s happiness is not likely to improve at Newcastle
The fact both Gordon and Joelinton have been deployed out of position ahead of Almiron in what is his natural role is hardly a ringing endorsement of his standing in the team these days.
With that in mind, it’s difficult to see how things suddenly improve for the Paraguay star.
So, it’s hardly surprising that reports suggest he – along with Murphy – could be put up for sale in January.
