Newcastle United are absolutely flying right now.
Monday’s routine 2-0 victory over Manchester United saw Newcastle reclaim fifth place in the Premier League table, while extending their winning streak to five consecutive games across all competitions.
Not long after questioning his players for a supposed drop in attitude following the Premier League defeat to Brentford earlier this month, Eddie Howe really has turned things around.

Indeed, Newcastle can start dreaming of Champions League qualification once again – with fifth place potentially being enough for English sides this time around.
Their recent success is a testament to Howe’s management. Unable to have strengthened his squad this summer and seemingly unlikely to in January, the Newcastle United manager has had to make use of what he’s got.
At some point, however, another big signing will come.
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has predicted exactly where that will be.
Jamie Carragher knows where Newcastle’s next big transfer is coming

Reflecting on Newcastle’s win at Old Trafford on Monday night, Carragher tipped the club to go out and strengthen at right wing next, when the funds are available.
“When you speak to Eddie Howe, he still talks about the PSR issue they’ve had,” he told Sky Sports.
“Jacob Murphy has done really well, but you can see they lack someone really special on the right side. I think that will be their next big signing.”
Newcastle United have been dealt a blow in pursuit of their dream signing
To that end, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has been described as the club’s dream target.
Still, getting the Cameroon international will not be easy.
As Newcastle saw with Marc Guehi, monied Premier League clubs are in a financial position to demand many millions for their top players. Gone are the days where that was a simple process.
Sadly for Newcastle, it has been claimed that the Bees would only be willing to sell Mbeumo in January if a substantial offer were to come in.
Given the mood music in regards to the idea of Newcastle spending big next month, it does not seem particularly likely.
