Newcastle United are currently standing firm in their bid to keep Kieran Trippier this month.
The 33-year-old is suddenly being linked with a move away from St James’ Park, with Bayern Munich signalling their intent to sign the defender last week.
Over the weekend, this story has ebbed and flowed. One moment it looked like Kieran Trippier was going to leave Newcastle United and sign for Bayern Munich, the next it looked like he was staying.
That appears to be where the land lies right now, with Eddie Howe very keen to keep Trippier at the club. Newcastle have rejected a loan and a permanent approach from Thomas Tuchel’s side, who are now planning their next move.
Bayern Munich will try again to sign Kieran Trippier
According to the Daily Mail, Bayern Munich are expected to make a fresh approach for Kieran Trippier.
They do not appear to be giving up on the England international, as they look to reunite Harry Kane with another one of his former Tottenham Hotspur teammates. They have already signed Eric Dier from Spurs this month.
The report from the Daily Mail states that a new bid will be made this week, and that Trippier is tempted by the prospect of playing alongside Kane and Dier again.

Pressure on Newcastle in the final week of the window
With a fresh offer looming, Newcastle United’s resolve will be tested once again.
Trippier is an ‘outstanding‘ player and someone who has had a transformative impact since his arrival two years ago, and now Newcastle United is a very different club because of him. In turn, that has created a scenario where he could go.
The Magpies need to sell to buy, so getting rid of a 33-year-old does make sense from a business perspective. And we already have his replacement on the books, with Tino Livramento arriving in the summer.
But Trippier is a seismic part of Howe’s squad, and losing him midway through what is proving to be a tough season could be a real hammer blow.
It may all come down to Trippier and how strongly he is pushing for a move away.
The January transfer window has become very interesting over the past few days, but not in a good way.
