Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United, including an interesting update involving PIF.

On Thursday, the entire fanbase was shocked to learn that their star striker had confirmed his intent to explore his options away from the club this summer.

Newcastle United have no interest in selling Alexander Isak this summer, and it would have to take a gargantuan offer to prise him away from Eddie Howe’s clutches. However, the Magpies may be forced into selling him if his drive to leave becomes more serious.

Isak is undoubtedly Newcastle’s star player, having come off the back of two 20-goal Premier League seasons. The club do not want him to leave, and have even started work to try and sign players to help get the best out of him next season. Anthony Elanga has joined, and Yoane Wissa could soon join to play alongside Isak or provide cover where required.

With his future in doubt, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared a new update on Isak, with a bizarre twist involving PIF.

Alexander Isak rejects move from Newcastle United to Saudi Pro League

Howe said there are talks with Newcastle and Isak happening, but nothing to do with a new contract at the moment. The important work now is just getting him happy on Tyneside again, and ensuring he is in the right frame of mind ahead of next season.

While Liverpool appear to have the strongest interest, Geordie Boot Boys understand Al Hilal are interested in signing Isak from Newcastle, with a deal between two PIF-owned clubs potentially in the offing.

However, Romano has since stated that Isak has turned down an approach to join the Saudi Pro League side. The Swede still wants to play in Europe, so Liverpool appear to be the only viable option.

CEO Darren Eales said Newcastle would be ‘crazy’ to sell Isak this summer, but the club could be forced into something they do not want to do.

After recent speculation, some Newcastle players think Isak will sign for Liverpool this summer. The deal would see one of the club’s best-ever strikers, but if he stays, he can still cement his legendary status on Tyneside and ensure that all this speculation can be forgotten about.

With his future being put into question earlier this year amid interest from Arsenal, Isak has already spoken about his stance on leaving Newcastle.

“There’s not much to say, really. I’ve commented on my situation and my security in Newcastle several times,” Isak said.

“It’s been written how much I love the city and the club, how well I feel there. I’m not thinking about the future. I just want to perform for Newcastle. Now we won the cup, but we want to finish strong and reach the Champions League games. That’s where my focus lies.”

Newcastle have done what was required of them to keep Isak happy, so it begs the question of why he has opted to explore his options this summer.
