What some Newcastle United stars are thinking about Alexander Isak’s future now, it says a lot

While no one quite knows what the future holds, it seems some of the Newcastle United squad have accepted that Alexander Isak may leave this summer.

Isak has told Newcastle he wants to leave, despite the fact he still has three years on his contract and is a key player at a club set to play Champions League football.

Indeed, Isak was disappointed he didn’t get a new contract in 2024 and appears to have been unsettled by interest from Liverpool.

The player himself is reportedly unhappy on Tyneside. Isak wanted club owners PIF to show more ambition at Newcastle, having been frustrated by a lack of progress in new signings, appointments at executive level and updates in regard to a new stadium or training ground.

Newcastle have insisted Isak isn’t for sale all summer, although Craig Hope has shared some insight into how some of Eddie Howe’s squad are feeling.

Some Newcastle United teammates expect Alexander Isak to leave this summer

The Daily Mail journalist was speaking on a video posted on YouTube from the club’s pre-season tour of Singapore.

Not only did Hope admit he could see Isak leaving St James’ Park this summer, he added that some of the player’s teammates are of the same view.

“I know now that some of his teammates internally suspect that [Isak leaving] too,” he said.

Internal reaction says a lot about Alexander Isak’s future at Newcastle United

If the players who have come to know Isak so well on the Newcastle United training ground expect him to go, it doesn’t look good.

Clearly, not all of them will be privy to the inner workings of the situation, but they’re likely better placed than most.

It would be a great shame to see Isak go. He’s within his rights to want to test himself elsewhere and Newcastle are almost certain to receive a huge sum of money, but that does not make the situation any easier to deal with.

Hopefully, some of his teammates don’t follow suit.
