West Ham United are interested in signing Kieran Trippier from Newcastle United this summer.
The Hammers are in the market for a right-back, and that could lead them in the direction of Kieran Trippier.
He is in the final year of his Toon contract, and it has been reported that Trippier will likely be sold by Newcastle United this summer.
The 33-year-old’s future is very much up in the air, and it feels like a St James’ Park exit could be on the cards for the first player to sign for Newcastle after the takeover. Trippier has had a seismic impact on Tyneside, but his Newcastle career could be coming to an end.
Trippier has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but may now have the chance to stay in the Premier League.

West Ham fans deliver Kieran Trippier verdict
West Ham are interested in a possible deal, with Newcastle now set to hold talks with Trippier regarding his future.
He could be a good addition to Julen Lopetegui’s side, as he prepares for his first season as West Ham manager after replacing David Moyes at the London Stadium.
It has been a busy summer in East London so far. West Ham have signed Crysencio Summerville, who was linked with Newcastle, while they have just completed a deal for Germany international Niclas Fullkrug – a player who scored against the Magpies in the Champions League last season.
Now Trippier is on the agenda, but news of West Ham’s interest has not gone down well with their fans.
They have commented on West Ham’s interest in Trippier on X, with the right-back’s age proving to be a real issue for supporters.
One West Ham fan tweeted: “Trippier is not the man we’re looking for. Not at 33!”
That sentiment was shared by this Hammers fan, who wrote: “Kieran Trippier is past it. Go and get Walker-Peters if AWB [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] Isn’t happening.”
This West Ham supporter was a little bit more positive, but was not totally struck on signing Trippier, writing: “Would take him for a season, rather take AWB but can’t see us reaching an agreement any time soon.”
“Can’t lie, I’m not keen on this at all,” added a fourth West Ham fan.
Another supporter asked on X: “Can we pretty please stop being interested in 30+ players?”
Finally, this West Ham fan provided a blunt response to interest in the Newcastle United defender, commenting: “No thanks.”
West Ham fans’ Trippier stance is harsh but understandable
West Ham fans are not struck on the idea of signing Trippier, which is understandable.
He is the latter stages of his career at the age of 33, meaning they would not get many years out of him. It would not be a deal that would represent great value – there would be no chance of selling him on for a decent fee after a year or two.
And West Ham’s interest comes after Trippier endured a tough summer. He was a key player for England at Euro 2024, but was asked to play at left-back. That hindered his ability to excel, and he received a lot of criticism.
However, the criticism was largely unfair given the fact he was playing out of position in a struggling England team.
And while he had low moments in black and white last season, that did not tell the full story of Trippier’s 2023/24 campaign for Newcastle. He started the year incredibly well, only to endure a dip of form during the winter. The right-back made some high profile errors, and it was clear that he was struggling.
But Trippier did bounce back in 2024, only for injury to strike.
Now his Newcastle career could be coming to an end, and West Ham could offer him the chance to remain in the Premier League. However, that is not a tantalising prospect for West Ham fans.
