Kieran Trippier’s Newcastle United future is very much up in the air, and now he could have the chance to join West Ham United.
The 33-year-old is in the final year of his Newcastle United contract, leading to speculation that he could be sold this summer.
A move away would make sense given his contract situation and his age, with Toon officials still needing to raise cash to preserve their PSR situation. From a business perspective, it makes sense to sell Kieran Trippier now.
And from his perspective, the chance to get one last big contract has to be appealing.
It has been reported that Trippier probably will leave Newcastle this summer, and a decision regarding his future could be made soon as the Magpies prepare to turn their attention towards outgoings once Will Osula and Marc Guehi arrive.

West Ham linked with signing Kieran Trippier
Trippier has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but now he could have the chance to remain in the Premier League.
The Telegraph reported on Wednesday night that West Ham United are interested in Trippier, as Julen Lopetegui aims to add a new right-back to his squad.
They have been linked with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kyle Walker-Peters and Noussair Mazraoui, but could now turn their attention to Newcastle’s number two.
Newcastle’s plan as West Ham enquire about signing Kieran Trippier
West Ham’s interest could give Newcastle the chance to move Trippier on, and now the Chronicle have provided an update on what is set to happen on Tyneside regarding the England international.
According to the Chronicle, Newcastle will holds talks with Trippier about his future at St James’ Park.
They report that Eddie Howe wants to keep Trippier beyond this summer, with his experience seen as valuable.
The Chronicle add that West Ham boss Lopetegui thinks the defender would fit in well at the London Stadium, as he aims to improve the Hammers’ squad ahead of the new season.
Chance for Trippier to move back to London
If West Ham do formalise their interest in Trippier, he will have a decision to make.
If he is of the belief that it is time to leave Newcastle United then West Ham could be a good option. Lopetegui is building a strong team, while it would give Trippier the chance to live in London again. He spent four years at Tottenham Hotspur, and may now be able to return to the south.
It would also allow Trippier to keep playing in the Premier League. That could be important, as it is seen as the best league in the world and Trippier will still believe – and rightly so – that he can play at a high enough level to impress in top flight of English football.
While last year was challenging, Trippier is not over the hill. He still has a lot to offer. That is why Howe will want to keep him, despite Newcastle already having his replacement in Tino Livramento.
But a move away could beckon, given his age and a contract that is winding down. The riches of Saudi Arabia could lure Trippier in, but he may also have the chance to remain in England and move to West Ham.
For now, his first port of call is holding talks with Newcastle United about happens next.
