Another day passes in the January transfer window as the pressure rises on Newcastle United sporting director Paul Mitchell.
The Magpies have still yet to see any arrivals as we approach the midway point of the transfer window, but that doesn’t mean that work isn’t underway to bring in new faces.
Mitchell has already moved in for 17-year-old Kyle Fitzgerald who will join Newcastle on August 28th, he’ll sign his first professional contract on his 18th birthday.
The focus is on outgoings, but with Martin Dubravka now set to stay on Tyneside until the end of the season, Eddie Howe and Mitchell must consider who else could leave the club in January to fund any incoming stars.
Newcastle have an FA Cup tie against Bromley to focus on for now – but in the meantime, here’s a roundup of the latest transfer rumours regarding Newcastle United.

Newcastle see Aaron Ramsdale as James Trafford alternative
Newcastle wanted James Trafford but words from former Toon man Scott Parker suggest he wants him at the club if Burnley gets promoted from the Championship.
In the meantime, Newcastle have shifted their attention to Southampton shot-stopper Aaron Ramsdale.
Newcastle see Ramsdale as an alternative to Trafford. The 26-year-old is highly likely to leave the Saints if they get relegated from the Premier League.
Ramsdale only made the move to the South Coast in the summer after being frozen out at Arsenal.

Graham Potter eyes Jonathan David amid Newcastle interest
There are reportedly four clubs in pre-contract talks with Lille forward Jonathan David. The 24-year-old is out of contract in the summer and will be one of the hottest free agents in Europe if he doesn’t sign an agreement before his expiry.
New West Ham boss Graham Potter looks set to make David his first transfer at the helm of the Hammers.
Newcastle want David who has scored 11 goals in Ligue 1 this season. It’s unsure whether the Canadian international would play alongside Alexander Isak given his fine form, however.

Charlotte FC progress talks with Miguel Almiron
Miguel Almiron’s future at Newcastle United has been under speculation for months. It looked like he was set for a move away in the summer but it never materialised.
According to German Garcia Grova, Charlotte FC are now advancing in their negotiations to sign Almiron. It looks like a deal will most likely happen in the summer though, as salary expectations and agent fees look to be a stumbling block.
Charlotte have openly discussed signing Almiron, admitting that the Paraguayan would be a “great addition” to their squad.
An unnamed Brazilian top-flight club bid for Almiron earlier in the window but that has since come to nothing.
