Predicted Newcastle United XI to face Bromley as Eddie Howe makes Bruno Guimaraes decision and starts £10m man

Newcastle United are expected to make wholesale changes against Bromley in the FA Cup.

On the back of seven straight wins, the Newcastle United starting XI could look very different on Sunday.

The Magpies are in FA Cup third round action against Bromley, who play in League Two.

Eddie Howe’s side are massive favourites, and the Newcastle United manager will use this as a chance to rest some of his key players amid a gruelling schedule.

Even with changes looming, Newcastle are predicted to beat Bromley at St James’ Park.

But Eddie Howe’s team will look very different, and this is Geordie Boot Boys’ predicted Newcastle United starting XI.

Fabian Schar returns to the Newcastle United defence

After missing Newcastle’s previous two games through suspension, Fabian Schar should return to the Magpies’ starting XI on Sunday.

He will likely be joined by Lloyd Kelly at centre-back, who has not started a game for Newcastle United since November 25th. That was the night that the Magpies lost 2-0 to West Ham United.

There should also be two more changes in defence, with Kieran Trippier replacing Tino Livramento.

Elsewhere, Matt Targett could start his first Toon game since September 2023. His future is up in the air right now, with Newcastle willing to loan Targett out this month.

Eddie Howe makes Bruno Guimaraes decision

Newcastle United were without Bruno Guimaraes for their win over Arsenal, with the midfielder serving a suspension.

He is available to return against Bromley, and is less in need of a rest compared to his teammates.

However, it would come as a surprise if Bruno started. Instead, it feels more likely that Howe will name the Brazilian on the bench.

Instead, Lewis Miley must start for Newcastle United, while Howe should use the FA Cup clash as a chance to give minutes to Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff.

Will Osula starts against Bromley

Alexander Isak is in the form of his life right now, boasting 14 goals in his last 15 games.

Newcastle United must protect him at all costs, which means keeping him away from Sunday’s FA Cup contest.

That should present Will Osula with an opportunity, as the £10million player continues to search for his first ever Toon goal.

Chances have been limited for Osula, but he feels certain to start in attack against Bromley alongside Miguel Almiron and Harvey Barnes.

Predicted XI vs Bromley: Vlachodimos; Trippier, Schar, Kelly, Targett; Longstaff, Miley, Willock; Almiron, Osula, Barnes.
