Newcastle United have been given hope in their bid to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

It has been reported that Newcastle want Bryan Mbeumo, as Paul Mitchell aims to bring a new right winger to St James’ Park.

Newcastle fans would love to sign Mbeumo, having seen the 25-year-old enjoy a remarkable season for Brentford.

The Cameroon international has scored 18 goals and provided eight assists, with four of those contributions coming against Newcastle United.

While the Magpies are aware that he will be very expensive, Eddie Howe loves the idea of adding Mbeumo to his attack.

Bryan Mbeumo ‘likely’ to leave Brentford

Brentford are currently relaxed about Mbeumo’s future, but one of the forward’s teammates has admitted that he is probably going to leave the Gtech Community Stadium this summer.

During an interview with Sky Sports, Christian Norgaard has spoken about the futures of Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa.

“I am pretty calm with what might happen with Bryan [Mbeumo] and [Yoane] Wissa because a lot of questions are asked about them and you can almost feel the worries around the place when you talk about them maybe leaving us,” he said.

“I, for one, feared we would lose Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma, Ivan Toney, so it continues.

“The club has already brought in Thiago who has not played a lot this year, but another fantastic character. He will also take the league by storm. When that is I don’t know, but I am sure he will be ready for whenever Wissa gets his dream move or if Bryan leaves, there will be a change to the offensive players.

“The club is so talented in terms of recruiting and being two or three steps ahead.”

Norgaard added: “I think Bryan is likely to go, I don’t know with Wissa yet, everyone is hoping he might stay.

“Either way, I am happy with the season they have both had because they deserve it.”

What Bryan Mbeumo recently said about Newcastle United

While Norgaard may believe that Mbeumo is going to leave Brentford, that does not mean that all roads lead to Newcastle United.

Manchester United want Mbeumo too, while the Magpies are concerned about whether or not they can afford him.

The Telegraph have reported that the winger is likely to cost more than £60million, while interest from elsewhere could see that price tag rise.

However, Newcastle will feel that they have a couple of aces up their sleeve.

Mbeumo recently admitted he loves playing at St James’ Park. Now the Magpies could give him the chance to do that on a regular basis.

There could also be the lure of Champions League football. Mbeumo has never played in Europe’s elite competition, but has proven this season that he is more than capable of stepping up.

Newcastle are close to qualifying for the Champions League again, sitting in fourth with three Premier League games to go.
