Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho but face competition from Aston Villa and Tottenham.
The 25-year-old looks to be out of luck at Old Trafford and is expected to be moved on in the summer transfer window, seemingly putting an end to his torrid four-year spell at the club.
Newcastle United are looking to improve their options in attack, and have identified Jadon Sancho as one player who fits the bill for them. The Magpies are returning to the Champions League next season and need as many experienced players as possible to give them the best chance of being competitive in the tournament.
Despite the links and his experience in Europe’s top competition, Newcastle fans do not want to sign Sancho, as they believe his attitude is problematic and his wage demands will be far too high.
Eddie Howe has looked to sign domestically at Newcastle in the early stages of the transfer window, meaning players like Sancho have emerged as targets at this point. However, both he and head of recruitment Steve Nickson will be working tirelessly behind the scenes to put together a list of ideal players they should sign.
Sancho may not be at the top of the list, but he has already been given the backing of a Newcastle player who seems very keen on having him join the club.

Callum Wilson speaks highly of Jadon Sancho amid Newcastle United transfer links
Callum Wilson has played with the best of them for both club and country, but his time at Newcastle appears to be over. Despite being offered a new deal at the end of the season, Wilson was placed on the released list by the Premier League alongside the likes of John Ruddy and Jamal Lewis.
Newcastle fans are baffled about Wilson’s contract offer and believe he should just be released after failing to score in any of his Premier League appearances this season. Clearly, Howe still sees something in him that most others do not.
Wilson appears to have the same feelings towards Sancho, whom he has played alongside with the England national team in the past. While speaking on a BBC Sport podcast in 2023, Wilson had some very kind words for Sancho which Howe will surely want to hear.
“I feel sorry for Jadon, I know Jadon personally from playing with England and he is a top, top player,” he said.
“He has come to the Premier League and found it difficult. Does (he) need an arm around (his) shoulder?
“Sometimes people go the opposite way and think that screaming and shouting at someone gets the best out of them. That might be the case for someone like myself but someone else might need an arm to fill them with confidence to get the best out of them.
“Great man management gives players confidence to perform and flourish without fearing they will be dropped next week or kicked out of the club.”

Eddie Howe can be a great man-manager for Jadon Sancho at Newcastle United
There is no denying what wonders Howe has done for this Newcastle side. The 47-year-old has completely transformed the team from being completely down and out in the 2021/22 campaign to being a side that is consistently fighting for a European spot.
Club captain Bruno Guimaraes has praised Howe’s tactics in the past, while other players, past and present, have shared how much they appreciate his honesty. Chris Wood thanked Howe for letting him leave Newcastle, admitting it was a valiant thing for him to do at the time.
Howe understands what it is like for a player to struggle and has taken several Newcastle stars under his wing to get them out of a rut. It is evident Sancho needs a manager like that, but he will struggle to find anyone other than Howe who fits the bill.
Even the players who look most far gone are not too far gone in Howe’s eyes. The likes of Joelinton and Jacob Murphy owe so much to Howe for everything he has done for their careers.
