Newcastle United are short of options on the wing until at least the end of the season.
Due to lingering PSR problems, Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has been forced to say goodbye to two right-wingers this season.
Newcastle sold Yankuba Minteh to Brighton for £30m in a move that saw the Magpies avoid a points deduction for the season. Toon fans never saw the young winger play for their club before leaving.
In January, Howe made the reluctant decision to sell Miguel Almiron to Atlanta United in a deal which could bag them up to £11m.
Upon the announcement, Newcastle fans were sad to see Almiron leave as they recognised that he had given his all to the club in his six years on Tyneside. There has been a lack of incomings for Newcastle in recent transfer windows because of PSR but the wheels are officially in motion for it to be a busy summer with sporting director Paul Mitchell at the helm.
Newcastle looks set to sign Antonio Cordero from Malaga after talks with Mitchell about signing a pre-contract. Now, Newcastle have got their sights on another summer move for a winger they have had a long-term interest in.

Newcastle remain admirers of Anthony Elanga
Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga has enjoyed a fine season under Nuno Espirito Santo. Forest sit third in the Premier League, 10 points off leaders Liverpool.
It is looking increasingly likely that the previously relegation-threatened side will qualify for the Champions League after enjoying a fine start to the season.
Newcastle want Elanga who has 11 goal involvements in the League this season, three goals and eight assists. Howe was so keen to land the 22-year-old that he made Newcastle launch a deadline-day bid for Elanga that was swiftly rejected.
According to Ben Jacobs, Newcastle will undoubtedly be in the market for a winger in the summer and named Elanga, who teammate Ryan Yates said told Nottinghamshire Live could be ‘world class’, as a possible option.
Talking on GiveMeSport’s Market Madness podcast, Jacobs said: “Absolutely (Newcastle will sign a right-winger). Put your mortgage on it. They’ve got to replace Miguel Almiron. Amongst others, they still like Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga.”
Reports in January suggest that Elanga would cost Newcastle £50m in the summer.

Anthony Elanga has links to Newcastle players
While Elanga may not be a Newcastle player, he still has links to several Toon stars. The winger is very active on social media and is often seen congratulating Newcastle players after good performances.
After scoring his first goal for the club during an FA Cup tie in January, Elanga congratulated Newcastle attacker William Osula on Instagram.
Alexander Isak scored a hat-trick against Ipswich in December. Elanga said it was ‘too easy.’ for Isak.
Elanga commented on Isak’s recent social media post when Newcastle reached the Carabao Cup final after beating Arsenal at St James’ Park.
The Swedish international also plays with former Newcastle star Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood, who played for Newcastle for 12 months.
