Newcastle United need attacking reinforcements during the January transfer window.
The Magpies are certainly light of a winger, with Harvey Barnes out injured.
To complicate matters further, Miguel Almiron is set to be sold to Atlanta United. That leaves Eddie Howe with just Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy as out-and-out wingers.
On top of that, Alexander Isak is Eddie Howe’s only fit and trusted striker. Callum Wilson remains injured, while Will Osula is still very raw.
While Newcastle United have elite players, their squad is not strong enough. That is why Toon fans are eager for an attacker to join the club before the January transfer window slams shut.
Newcastle United linked with Matheus Cunha after Wolves twist

That might not be possible due to PSR, but the Magpies continue to be linked with potential signings.
That brings us to Matheus Cunha, who could be on his way out of Wolverhampton Wanderers this month.
Talks over a new contract at Molineux appear to have stalled, leading to speculation that he could leave before the January transfer window closes.
According to Give Me Sport, Newcastle United are ‘in the picture’ to sign Cunha from Wolves.
Give Me Sport add that Chelsea and Nottingham Forest all also in the mix, with Arsenal the ‘frontrunners’ to land the 25-year-old.
They state that Cunha wants a release clause included in a new contract, which has caused talks to stall after there had been a verbal agreement between the player and the club.
Cunha is the perfect player at the wrong time for Newcastle United
This could all culminate in Cunha leaving Wolves this month, which is not what they need as they aim to avoid relegation from the Premier League. After all, Cunha is their best player, with the Brazil international boasting 10 goals and four assists this season.
However, it feels incredibly unlikely that Newcastle United will be the ones to benefit from this contract uncertainty.
It has been stressed all month that Newcastle are unlikely to make any senior signings. Even the looming departure of Miguel Almiron is not going to open the financial floodgates for reinforcements.
It has been claimed by Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol that it could cost around £60million to sign Cunha this month, which makes a move to Tyneside impossible.
Newcastle turned down the chance to sign Takefusa Kubo, who is available for £50million. Financial reasons are the reason Newcastle said no, so there is simply no way they could spend even more on Cunha.
In truth, it is unclear why are Newcastle United mentioned as a possible suitor for Cunha.
The timing is just all wrong for the Magpies. That is a shame, as Cunha is the type of player that they really need right now. He can play centrally as a striker and provide cover for Alexander Isak, while he is also capable of operating on either flank. On top of that, he can play behind the striker, which would give Newcastle a different way of playing. That would be a good option for Eddie Howe to have.
Alas, it is not an option he will get. While Cunha may leave Wolves this month, Newcastle United will probably have to stick with what they have got.
