Things could not be going much better for Newcastle United right now.
Indeed, Eddie Howe’s side made it a club record-equalling nine consecutive victories on Wednesday night when they ran out 3-0 winners over Wolves at St James’ Park.

Newcastle are up to fourth in the Premier League table and have one foot in the Carabao Cup final, all while being handed a favourable-looking FA Cup fourth-round tie away at Birmingham.
While they still have an awful lot to prove, Newcastle are certainly in a good position as things stand.
Luckily, things could be about to get better too. Players are starting to return from injury, with Callum Wilson seemingly one of the next cabs off the rank on that front.
Now, a fresh update has emerged.
Newcastle United learn Callum Wilson injury return date

According to The Daily Mail, Wilson is looking to return to Howe’s squad for the return leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal on Wednesday 5 February, 2025.
The striker hasn’t played since suffering an injury during the 4-2 defeat away at Brentford last month but is thought to have made good progress on his hamstring issue.
Wilson is also understood to have spent some time away from the club to recover from the mental setback of suffering yet another unwelcome injury but sources are reportedly of the belief the 32-year-old is coming back with a drive to make a difference in the second half of the campaign.
The club are said to hope that lessons have been learned from his last attempted comeback, when he came off the bench three times in the space of a week. That perhaps hints at a gradual process this time around.
Is Callum Wilson going to leave Newcastle United soon?
Out of contract in the summer and clearly not reliable on the fitness front, Wilson had been expected to leave at the end of the season.
Still, The Athletic recently suggested the striker could yet earn a new contract with the club if he was to return from injury and impress during the second half of the campaign.
Clearly, there’s work to be done on that front and Will Osula has recently been impressing as a potential back-up to Alexander Isak.
However, Wilson with a point to prove could certainly be quite the dangerous prospect for opposition defences.
