There are plenty of fringe players who could leave Newcastle United in January.
Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle must sell before they buy when the transfer window opens, with various members of Eddie Howe’s squad available for a move away.
It has been claimed that Sean Longstaff could leave Newcastle, while Martin Dubravka has interest from Saudi Arabia.
They are both contenders to depart St James’ Park during the January transfer window, but the most likely candidate to leave feels like Miguel Almiron.
The 30-year-old is surplus to requirements right now, starting just once in the Premier League so far this season. Almiron was an unused substitute on Monday night, as Newcastle beat Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford.

New developments on Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle United future
His future appears to lie away from Tyneside, with clubs from all over the world queuing up to sign the Paraguay international.
Now the Magpies have received an offer for Almiron, with the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope stating on X that a bid has been submitted.
He wrote on X: “NUFC have now received an offer from a Brazilian top-flight club for Miguel Almiron. However, I understand salary & agent expectations are a stumbling block.”
Before breaking the news on a Brazilian offer for Almiron, Hope also suggested that a move to Greece is a possibility.
He wrote on X earlier on Tuesday: “Keep an eye on Miguel Almiron & Olympiacos. Interest reported below & Willian has now left Greek club after terminating contract.”
Almiron’s Newcastle exit feels inevitable
Speculation over a move to Brazil or Greece comes after it was claimed Cruz Azul could make an early move for Almiron. The Mexican club have been offered the chance to sign him in 2025.
There has also been talk of Premier League clubs looking at Almiron, with teams from all over the globe showing an interest in a player who cost the Magpies £21million in 2019.
With so much interest, Almiron’s lack of first-team minutes and Newcastle’s need to sell, it feels like a move away in January is inevitable.
But that will depend on what the Magpies and Almiron are offered, with Newcastle wanting £8million to sell Almiron.
As Hope says, wages could be a problem despite Newcastle receiving an early bid from Brazil to sell Almiron during the January transfer window.
