Newcastle United need some outgoings in January if there is to be any incoming transfer business.

It is going to be a very interesting month for Newcastle United, who need to sign a right winger and a right-sided centre-back – just like they did in the summer transfer window.

It is claimed that Newcastle’s transfer priority is a right winger, as Eddie Howe aims to enhance his attacking options. Newcastle are interested in Johan Bakayoko, who plays for PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie.

But Geordie Boot Boys have been told that Newcastle need to sell to buy due to PSR, which could lead to some outgoings at St James’ Park.

Miguel Almiron is a leading contender to depart, with the 30-year-old barely featuring for Eddie Howe this season. It is claimed that Almiron is open to leaving Newcastle, almost five years since he arrived on Tyneside for £21million.

What is now being said about Miguel Almiron leaving Newcastle

Almiron has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but there are now claims that he could actually remain in the Premier League.

According to the Chronicle, Almiron is a loan target for Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Chronicle add that a loan exit to a Premier League club for Almiron is being floated by ‘sources close to his agent’.

Newcastle need Almiron to leave permanently

The only way Newcastle should let Almiron leave the club on loan is if it includes an obligation to buy. To truly help their PSR situation, they need to completely get Almiron off the books.

The Paraguayan has a contract at St James’ Park until 2026. As we enter 2025, his value is only going to decrease further, while it is clear that he has no major future under Eddie Howe.

Miggy has only started one Premier League game this season, with the likes of Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon, Harvey Barnes and Joelinton starting ahead of him on the right of attack.

He has become surplus to requirements, and Newcastle United should be doing all they can to secure Almiron a permanent exit during the January transfer window. That is what is best for his career, while it is what Newcastle need to achieve their own transfer ambitions.
