A new goalkeeper is part of Newcastle United’s summer plan to overhaul Eddie Howe’s squad.
There is currently fierce competition between Martin Dubravka and Nick Pope for the starting goalkeeper spot at Newcastle United.
Dubravka starred in Newcastle’s winning streak, which ended up becoming a club record of nine consecutive wins.
It seemed as though a move to Saudi Arabia was inevitable when Dubravka waved goodbye to fans, but Newcastle completed a U-turn and decided to keep hold of the 36-year-old for the remainder of the season.
However, since Nick Pope’s return from injury, he has slotted straight back in as Howe’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Newcastle fans slammed Pope’s display against Nottingham Forest, and against Brighton Newcastle fans chanted for Dubravka to return to the side.

Newcastle United want to sign James Trafford
It seems Pope and Dubravka’s battle for a starting spot will soon be irrelevant with Howe wanting to sign a new goalkeeper this summer.
James Trafford has been on Newcastle’s radar since the start of the season, and it seems the Burnley shot-stopper is closing in on a move to Tyneside.
Newcastle are growing in confidence about Trafford joining in the summer, however talkSPORT claim that Burnley will demand £30million for Trafford.
James Trafford has remarkably kept 25 clean sheets in 35 Championship games for the Clarets this season, and Newcastle are eager to make the 22-year-old their first-choice keeper.
Caoimhin Kelleher also available at slashed price
If Newcastle are unable to get a deal over the line for Trafford or deem him too expensive, there are other alternatives available.
Newcastle tracked Caoimhin Kelleher ahead of the January window with the Irish goalkeeper wanting to play regular first-team football.
Liverpool are open to selling Kelleher, and reports now claim that they are willing to lower their asking price to get a deal done.

According to The Mirror, Liverpool are prepared to reduce their asking price for Kelleher down to £20m – a whole £10m cheaper than Trafford’s price tag.
Paul Mitchell will finally have a transfer budget to play with this summer, and Newcastle will have to decide on which goalkeeper will become the long-term No.1 at St James’ Park.
