Newcastle United have a rather large amount of goalkeepers on the books.
Eddie Howe’s squad at Newcastle may be lacking big signings on the right wing or in central defence but has an awful lot of strength in depth between the posts.
Indeed, while Nick Pope is seemingly the undisputed No.1 when fully fit, the Newcastle United manager has plenty of options in reserve.
Martin Dubravka is currently standing in for Pope and is performing well, albeit he has been tipped to leave for Saudi Arabia at some point.
Behind Dubravka, Odysseas Vlachodimos could at least in theory provide experienced cover, while the likes of John Ruddy and Mark Gillespie are also on the books.
They have also been linked with a move for Burnley’s James Trafford at some point too, so it’s fair to say Howe is not short when it comes to goalkeepers.
However, Newcastle are now being linked with another shot-stopper.

Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher – previously hailed as the “best No.2 in the world” by Jurgen Klopp – is now being touted as a target.
Newcastle keeping tabs on Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher
According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle are keeping tabs on the Republic of Ireland international.
Kelleher has made little secret of his desire to test himself as a No.1 at some point and has some big competition at Anfield.
Alisson Becker is hard enough to dislodge but the imminent arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili next summer complicate matters even further.
The report adds that Newcastle hold a genuine interest in Kelleher and will keep an eye on his situation. Liverpool, for their part, are reportedly ready to sell should the right offer emerge.
Nick Pope has been tipped to leave Newcastle United soon
The idea of Kelleher replacing Pope as No.1 at Newcastle is perhaps not out of the question.
As good as Pope has been, he has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons and was recently tipped to leave by talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy amid doubts about his distribution.
Experienced in the Premier League and the Champions League, Newcastle could do a lot worse than bringing Kelleher in as a replacement.
