A new winger could well be on Newcastle United’s agenda ahead of the summer transfer window.
While Newcastle were unable to sign a player during a frustrating January due to FFP restrictions behind the scenes, the summer may prove a different story.
Indeed, Eddie Howe is thought to be keen on a new wide option as he bids to strengthen his attacking line.
Miguel Almiron, after all, could reportedly be leaving St James’ Park despite staying at the club amid interest from Saudi Arabia last month.
One name who has frequently been linked with Newcastle is Pedro Neto of Wolves.
Still, though the 23-year-old has been in fine form this season, there is said to be a concern behind the scenes.
Pedro Neto transfer news: Newcastle latest
The Athletic’s David Ornstein was quizzed on the forward’s future during a Q&A on their website.
Ornstein confirmed Newcastle were among a number of big clubs keen on Neto but added suitors may have concerns about the player’s injury record.

Pedro Neto: Injury record
Though hailed as “incredible” by manager Gary O’Neil, Neto’s injury record is certainly worth taking into consideration.
His nine Premier League assists this season might have only been bettered by Kieran Trippier and Ollie Watkins but surely after this injury-hit season, Newcastle can ill-afford more problems.
According to Transfermarkt data, Neto has missed 98 games for Wolves since joining the club in the summer of 2019.
Paying what would surely be a big fee for a player who cannot seem to stay fit for a significant period of time seems unwise, as good as Neto clearly can be at the very top level.
Having been frustrated by injuries all season, adding more potential problems to the list hardly seems like the best move.
Newcastle would be right to harbour concerns.
