Newcastle United are a new name in the frame with an interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Pedro Neto along with several other Premier League clubs.

Eddie Howe always seems to be on the hunt for attack-minded midfielders for Newcastle. With Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy both approaching the 30 mark, Howe is currently on the look out for a younger right-sided attacker.

One player that has reportedly caught his eye, according to Team Talk is 23-year-old Pedro Neto.

Pedro Neto is being watched by a host of clubs

It’s hardly surprising that his name has found its way into Eddie Howe’s book after an absolutely superb display against Manchester City last week as Wolves piled on the misery for Pep Guardiola after Newcastle dumped them out of the Carabao Cup.

Arsenal and Liverpool are said to be frontrunners for Neto’s signature who is being shopped around by super-agent Jorge Mendes with a view to a move next summer.

However, Tottenham, Aston Villa and a couple of Saudi Pro League clubs are also said to be in the mix along with Newcastle.

The report suggests it would take £50million to take Neto away from Wolves, but given his age and talent that’s not actually a bad price.

Neto has been described as ‘unique’ by ESPN pundit Janusz Michallik for his explosiveness.

Neto would be an excellent signing for Newcastle

The Portuguese has struggled with injuries at Wolves but now appears to be back to peak fitness and raring to go, contributing one goal and four assists to the cause already this season.

For Neto to be putting up those numbers in a Wolves side that has struggled this season (before beating Man City at least) is actually remarkable.

I’m not sure what Newcastle’s chances would be beating Liverpool or Arsenal to his signature, but he’d be an excellent signing if we could.
