A big summer transfer window could await Newcastle United.
January, of course, proved very frustrating for Newcastle. FFP restrictions behind the scenes made it impossible to sign players, leading Eddie Howe to suggest it would take years for the club to regularly compete for the Champions League.
Still, the summer could prove something of a different story. Reports from iNews, after all, claimed earlier this year that supporters could expect a big rebuild at St James’ Park under PIF.
Indeed, it’s being tipped as a busy summer ahead for the club. Upgrades are reportedly being sought, which is where Miguel Almiron comes in.
Despite excelling last season, the 30-year-old has struggled at points this time around. Though Howe has spoken in glowing terms about the forward, who has been hailed as “unplayable” by teammate Dan Burn, Almiron was linked with a move away in January.
Those links have since continued and it seems Newcastle are keen to upgrade at right-wing.
Newcastle transfer news: Miguel Almiron upgrade wanted
According to The Daily Mail, there is an expectation the club will look for an upgrade on Almiron this summer.
Pedro Neto of Wolves continues to be tracked, albeit there is frequently said to be concern in regard to the forward’s injury record.
If Newcastle were to move for the Portuguese, a fee of £60m has been touted.

Miguel Almiron: Newcastle star can leave with his head held high
If Almiron really is coming to the end of his Newcastle career, he can at least leave this summer with his head held high.
One of the players Howe has improved most during his time at St James’, he’s been excellent against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
Still, a record of 23 goals and six assists in 171 Premier League appearances can surely be improved on going forward.
Newcastle need more firepower if they are going to consistently challenge.
