Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has made it very clear that he does not want to sell Miguel Almiron.
The 29-year-old is one of multiple Toon players who have been linked with leaving the club this week, alongside Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier.
Miguel Almiron has been the subject of interest from Saudi Arabia. It has been claimed that Newcastle want a fee of around £30million for him, while it was even suggested that a deal was in place for him to leave the club.
However, it does not sound like he is keen on a departure. Miggy wants to remain in the North East, and that aligns with how the Newcastle manager feels about the winger’s future.
Eddie Howe wants Miguel Almiron to stay at Newcastle
Howe has been speaking to the media ahead of Newcastle’s FA Cup clash with Fulham, and was asked about Almiron possibly being sold during the January transfer window.
“A lot of noise and speculation around his future,” he said, as reported by the Chronicle.
“I’m desperate to keep him. He’s been an integral part since I came to the club. His contribution has been immense.
“There has been a lot of noise and it comes from somewhere but hopefully we can keep him.”

Newcastle stay looks likely
Eddie Howe has made it clear that he wants Almiron to stay, and Almiron has made it clear that he wants to stay. It probably won’t, but that should be the end of it.
There is obviously a need for Newcastle to sell this month, and a departure for Almiron would make some sense. He is of an age where we could get decent money for him, while he is not so integral that he would be impossible to replace.
But Newcastle’s options in attack are so limited right now that it would be a massive risk to let the former Atlanta United star go.
While he has received a lot of criticism over the past couple of months, he is a massively important player. He has been very reliable this season, featuring in every single game. That is commendable given the amount of injuries we have had.
There will come a time when Newcastle need to replace Almiron and cash in, but it does not look like Howe wants that time to be now. And as manager, he should have the final say.
