Newcastle United’s summer transfer window looks to be clicking into gear.
After a frustrating period in which Newcastle have had to reluctantly sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to balance the books, things look like changing at last.
Indeed, a deal to sign William Osula from Sheffield United is reportedly nearing completion, with further arrivals expected.
A right winger and a central defender are both believed to be on the agenda for head coach Eddie Howe, who will begin his Premier League campaign at home to Southampton later this month.
Crystal Palace and England star Marc Guehi is also said to be a target.
Talks with the Eagles are thought to be underway for the central defender, who is reportedly open to the idea of a move to St James’ Park.
Hailed as “brilliant” by Jude Bellingham, more insight has now emerged.

Newcastle are now confident about signing Marc Guehi this summer
According to The Chronicle, talks developed on Friday night and there is now hope of reaching a positive conclusion.
Discussions over the fee are understood to be underway and there is an acceptance it could end up being a club-record deal for Newcastle. The report states that a fee of more than £65million is being discussed, with the deal possibly hinging on how payment of the fee is structured.
The Chronicle add that Guehi is keen to join Newcastle United, with the defender ‘excited’ by the Magpies’ interest in him.
The big concern Newcastle United have about signing Marc Guehi
Signing an England international to strengthen a defence Howe admitted needed work has to be seen as a huge positive.
At 24, Guehi is at a fantastic age to build on his experience and develop into an even better player.
Still, Newcastle are believed to have one big concern about the deal.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the fact their pursuit of the player has gone public has caused Newcastle insiders to fear the deal could be hijacked by another suitor.
Hopefully, the club have done enough groundwork to get a move for Guehi over the line.
