Newcastle United are continuing their search for a right winger, with just two weeks to go before the summer transfer window closes.
It could be a frantic end to the window for the Magpies, with sporting director Paul Mitchell still tasked with bringing players into St James’ Park and moving others out the door.
For fans, the priority has to be getting a winger. Eddie Howe needs an upgrade on Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy, and that has been one of the priorities all summer.
However, the only attacking player to join Newcastle United this summer is Will Osula. But he is one for the future, and is primarily a striker.
Newcastle United are big fans of Oscar Bobb
It remains to be seen who Newcastle will bring in, with a lot of their targets now unavailable.
And that is the case with Oscar Bobb, who HITC Football insider Graeme Bailey has told Geordie Boot Boys was a player of interest for Newcastle United.

However, Manchester City did not want him to go, and he is now set to be out of action for up to four months after fracturing a bone in his leg.
“He’s been on Newcastle’s radar in and around all these other talks,” he said.
“I’m told that he is a player who Eddie Howe likes a lot.
“He’s an incredible young prospect and has had a good pre-season with Manchester City. But now he is out for a few months with a broken leg.
“In recent weeks and months, I’ve heard he is a player who Newcastle really like and appreciate a lot. That isn’t a big surprise – he’s a tremendous young player.
“There certainly is interest there from Newcastle.”
So many Newcastle targets have either gone elsewhere or been unavailable
Given Oscar Bobb’s immense talent, it is no surprise that Newcastle United are fans. They saw first hand how good he is, with the young winger netting a stoppage time winner as Man City beat Newcastle 3-2 back in January.
But he would have been a wildly ambitious target, given how highly rated he is by Pep Guardiola. Bobb had looked set to feature heavily for Man City this season, only for this injury to rule him out.
Even if a deal had been possible for Bobb, this injury would have changed things. Instead, he joins a growing list of wingers that Newcastle have targeted but failed to sign.
- Michael Olise – joined Bayern Munich instead
- Jarrod Bowen – too expensive, just named West Ham captain
- Nico Williams – too expensive
- Crysencio Summerville – joined West Ham United instead
- Pedro Neto – joined Chelsea instead
- Oscar Bobb – injured
Newcastle also interested in Noni Madueke
While plenty of targets have passed Newcastle by, one appears to remain – Noni Madueke.
The 22-year-old has been linked with leaving Chelsea for Newcastle, and Bailey has spoke to Geordie Boot Boys about Madueke possibly making the move to St James’ Park.
“He’s always been in the mix as one they want at Newcastle,” he said.
“Obviously Pedro Neto has gone to Chelsea now so that makes Madueke more likely to leave Chelsea. He’s on Newcastle’s radar. He’s not definitively their top target, but they have done work on him.
“Unlike Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah who we’re not sure were fully convinced about a move to Newcastle, I have not heard that Madueke would be against it at all.
“He is a player who Newcastle like, he’s on their list. They think they can get more out of him.
“I’m not a huge fan of his, I think he would be an uninspiring option for Newcastle, considering the alternatives out there. I think they could do better, and he’s not a significant upgrade on what Eddie Howe has already got.
“In contrast, he’s young and has got Premier League experience, and he has a high ceiling too. There are others out there, but there is interest from Newcastle. However, I’m not sure how far down the line they are on that one.”
It will be interesting to see if Newcastle United do make a move for Madueke before the transfer window closes on August 30th. One issue could be money, especially if the Magpies complete a deal for Marc Guehi. That is proving to be difficult, with Newcastle failing with a fourth bid for Guehi.
On top of that, it has been reported that Chelsea value Madueke at £60million.
