Newcastle United are struggling to afford Marc Guehi, and it could end up being a similar situation with Noni Madueke.
The Magpies are looking to sign a centre-back and a winger before the transfer window closes, with Marc Guehi and Noni Madueke appearing to be the standout targets.
Newcastle have had three bids rejected for Guehi, as Toon officials ponder their next move regarding their pursuit of the 24-year-old.
Journalist Luke Edwards has predicted that Newcastle will still sign Guehi, and the hope will be that a deal can be completed swiftly. But that obviously will not happen unless the Magpies submit an offer that Crystal Palace deem sufficient.
Newcastle linked with Noni Madueke
Eddie Howe also needs to add a winger to his squad. The Magpies are crying out for someone that is an upgrade on Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy, and appear to have identified Madueke for that role.

Newcastle think that Madueke has a lot of potential, and he could potentially be available following the influx of signings at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have brought in Pedro Neto from Wolves, and that could possibly push the 22-year-old out of the club.
Howe is a fan of Madueke, but it remains to be seen how keen Newcastle United will be following an update on Chelsea’s valuation of the attacker.
How much Chelsea think Madueke is worth
According to the Athletic, Chelsea now think that Madueke is worth around £60million.
They believe his value has massively increased, having signed him from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for £29million.
After a season and a half in the Premier League, Chelsea believe that Madueke’s value has doubled.
Newcastle absolutely will not pay that much for Madueke
That is a staggering amount of money for a player who has only shown flashes of his brilliance in the Premier League.
And if Chelsea seriously think Madueke has progressed so much that he is worth £60million then surely he should be a guaranteed starter for Enzo Maresca’s side.
At that kind of price, there is absolutely no way that Newcastle will be making a move. The Magpies are struggling to pay a similar fee for Marc Guehi, who is a much more established name than Madueke.
If Newcastle do land Guehi, they will not be able to afford Madueke. And even if they could, I doubt that Paul Mitchell would want to spend what would be an almost club record fee on the Chelsea youngster.
Hopefully Chelsea lower their demands, as it is becoming more and more difficult to envision a winger arriving at St James’ Park before the transfer window closes on August 30th.
