Kieran Trippier has been a big talking point this summer and his Newcastle United future will be settled in the coming days.
The 33-year-old dropped a bombshell by asking to leave Newcastle United this summer two years after he joined in a £12m deal.
Kieran Trippier lost the captaincy with Eddie Howe giving the armband to Bruno Guimaraes, and he has also lost his starting spot at right-back to Tino Livramento.
Trippier had been linked to West Ham and Everton over the summer with a reunion with Sean Dyche on the cards, but the English transfer window slammed shut and his options have significantly narrowed.
Turkey now seems the most likely destination for Trippier with several Super Lig clubs showing an interest in the former England international.
Kieran Trippier set for Besiktas transfer meeting
With the majority of European leagues shutting up shop in terms of transfer business, the only real options left for Trippier are a move to Turkey or Saudi Arabia.
It was thought that Newcastle would try and keep hold of Trippier until January, but he has reiterated his desire to leave and fresh reports suggest he is due for talks with Turkish giants Besiktas.
According to Fotomac, Besiktas will hold a meeting with Tripper in the coming days to discuss a potential move.
The Turkish transfer window remains open until Friday, so they are quickly running out of time to get a deal over the line.
If Trippier agrees to a move during this week’s meeting, Besiktas will push hard to get a deal finalised before the deadline.
Newcastle cannot lose Kieran Trippier before January
It is clear that Trippier’s heart and mind are not with Newcastle, but Eddie Howe simply cannot afford to have his defensive department thinned any more than it already is.
Having failed to bring in a top-class centre-back over the summer, the mood around St James’ Park has already been dampened.

Losing Trippier without having the chance to replace him would only make matters worse.
He can leave in January – and will have plenty more options – but a deal this week should not even be considered.
