Newcastle United plan to overhaul their squad this summer, which could be bad news for Sean Longstaff.
Major changes are expected at St James’ Park, with Newcastle eyeing at least three signings.
Paul Mitchell is finally going to be able to flex his recruitment muscles, but that does not mean there will not be any outgoings.
One player at risk of leaving St James’ Park is Sean Longstaff. After graduating from the Newcastle United academy and going on to make 210 appearances and counting for his boyhood club, his Toon career could soon be coming to an end.

How Sean Longstaff feels about his Newcastle United future
It has been reported that Longstaff is likely to leave Newcastle this summer, and there has now been an update on the 27-year-old’s future.
According to TalkSPORT, Longstaff is ‘open’ to a transfer away from Newcastle United at the end of the season.
They add that Everton are interested in signing the midfielder, with David Moyes a fan of Longstaff’s talents.
Sean Longstaff is no longer a Newcastle United regular
Everton were linked with Longstaff during the January transfer window, but a deal did not materialise.
Longstaff chose to stay at Newcastle United, and he will be glad of that decision ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
However, his stance looks set to change when the 2024/25 campaign comes to an end.
That is understandable, as the local lad has been playing less and less as the season has gone on.
Eddie Howe has relied on Longstaff a lot since becoming Newcastle United manager. However, that reliance has started to decrease.
He has only started eight Premier League games so far this season, with his last league starting coming in the 4-2 defeat to Brentford.
Since that game, Longstaff has been an unused substitute on six occasions in the Premier League. Even his cameos off the bench are becoming shorter, with Longstaff coming on for less than five minutes against Tottenham, Southampton, Liverpool and West Ham.
With that in mind, it is no surprise that Longstaff is now thinking about a move away from Newcastle United.
