Sean Longstaff has seen it all at Newcastle United.
The midfielder is a product of Newcastle’s academy and has played in some truly dire times under Steve Bruce.
Longstaff, however, has also been involved in some of the club’s biggest moments in recent history.
The 27-year-old scored in the famous 4-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last season, while his brace against Southampton during the 2022-23 campaign helped send Eddie Howe’s side to Wembley.
Still, Longstaff has been linked with a move away from Newcastle.
Selling an academy product would go down as ‘pure profit’ on the club’s balance sheet, which would help on the PSR front.
Now, however, a fresh update on his future has emerged.

What Sean Longstaff has privately said about his Newcastle United future
Everton are interested in Longstaff, albeit it seems there is little prospect of him leaving during what remains of the January transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail, the midfielder has told Newcastle chiefs he wishes to stay at St James’ Park.
Howe’s side have one foot in the Carabao Cup final and being a part of the squad who could end the club’s long trophy drought could appeal to a local player.
The report does add that a move away from the club at the end of the season still seems likely, given his contract expires in the summer of 2026.
How much is Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff worth?
Newcastle value Longstaff at around £10million, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.
While that may seem cheap for a Premier League midfielder, it is perhaps indicative of his contractual status.
It’s certainly understandable as to why Longstaff would be keen to stay at Newcastle given what’s on the line this season.
However, regular first-team football looks unlikely at this stage and perhaps a move away this summer would be the best thing for his career.
