Arsenal have retained a longstanding interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.
The Swede has been enjoying a sensational season for Newcastle United, scoring 17 Premier League goals so far this season. The Magpies have found a gem in Isak who has his fair share of admirers across Europe.
Alan Shearer praised Alexander Isak on social media for his performance in Newcastle’s dominant Carabao Cup win against Arsenal on Wednesday night. The 25-year-old found the back of the net early on in the tie but was deemed to have been offside in the buildup.
The striker has also garnered praise from his teammates in recent weeks – Jacob Murphy said he and Isak have an ‘understanding’ which has led them to have one of the best-attacking partnerships in Europe.
Arsenal fans were enamoured by Isak after his performance in the Carabao Cup. They want him to sign for Mikel Arteta’s side.
With the Gunners big fans of Isak, a new report has suggested how much they must pay to sign him.

Arsenal must pay British transfer record for Alexander Isak
Newcastle do not want to sell Isak. The club values him immensely and see him as a player they can build a squad around in the future.
Arsenal wanted Isak in January but were put off by the £150m price tag that was reported. Now, according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal must pay Newcastle in excess of £120m to land Isak in the summer.
Arteta has money to spend in the summer, the likes of Nico Williams and £62.5m Newcastle target Matheus Cunha have been linked. However, the report claims that Isak is Arsenal’s dream signing, but signing him in the summer for that fee has been deemed ‘implausible’.
At the very least, Arsenal will tempt fate and explore its validity. If they fail to land Isak, they will shift their attention to Benjamin Sesko who will have a new release clause which becomes active in the summer.
Newcastle wanted Sesko in the summer but decided to pursue Marc Guehi instead.
Alexander Isak considered to be among ‘world-class’ group
After a shaky start to the season, Isak has proven why he deserves to be considered among the elite group of strikers in world football.
Speaking on a recent episode of Match of the Day, Shearer believes that Isak has joined the world-class group alongside Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah. The 25-year-old sits third for goals in the Premier League, just behind the pair.
The Magpies are eager to hand Isak a new contract to deter interest from the likes of Arsenal who will be tempting fate in the summer.
At times, the Swede has been likened to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry for his agility and ability to find the back of the net. Isak still has a long way to go before equalling his number of Premier League goals, however.
