Rumours around Alexander Isak’s Newcastle United future refuse to go away.

Alexander Isak was incredible for Newcastle United last season with 25 goals scored in all competitions, but it attracted plenty of eyeballs over the summer.

Chelsea showed an interest in Isak, but Newcastle fought off transfer interest in the Swedish star by placing a staggering £180m price tag on Isak.

However, Arsenal are now monitoring Isak with the Gunners keen to sign a new striker in 2025.

Newcastle want to offer Isak a new deal to fend off interest, but the striker has a clear set of demands he wants to be reached before signing a contract.

Latest update on Alexander Isak’s contract talks

Despite currently being on £160,000 per week at Newcastle, Isak wants to be Newcastle’s top earner with a pay rise if he is to sign a new deal.

Alongside a financial boost, Isak could leave Newcastle if they don’t qualify for Europe this season.

The Magpies are currently 11th in the Premier League table but are still only four points away from the top four.

Contract talks with Isak have been postponed until the end of the season, with Newcastle challenging him to prove he deserves a pay rise.

With Newcastle in a slump of form at the moment, concerns over Isak leaving will grow.

We are just weeks away from the start of the January transfer window, and it is common knowledge that Newcastle may need to sell to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.

However, while Arsenal remain interested in Isak, a January move has been described as “farcical”.

As per The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards, Arsenal have not made a bid and there has been no contact between the clubs ahead of January.

He adds that “the idea that the Gunners have £100 million to spend on a striker in January is farcical. Isak is not going anywhere anytime soon.”
