The January transfer window is open and it could be a busy month for Newcastle United.
While there have been some bright moments, the first half of the 2024/25 season has been underwhelming for Eddie Howe.
Newcastle United have pulled off some great results by defeating Chelsea and Arsenal and holding Liverpool and Manchester City (before they were bad) to draws.
Yet, it’s the results against sides they should be beating that have really let Newcastle down, having failed to beat Crystal Palace, West Ham and Everton while also losing to Brentford, Brighton and Fulham.
The Magpies are far from where they want to be in the Premier League table and need to start 2025 strongly if they want to climb.
Injuries have been troublesome, with Howe hit particularly hard in defence and up front throughout the campaign and there are hopes some new bodies could be brought in during January.
However, the spending limitations placed on clubs due to PSR may mean that not enough money is spent to improve things too much.

When is January transfer window deadline day?
The January transfer window opened on New Year’s Day and actually remains open beyond the end of the month. Deadline day comes on Monday, February 3, with the window closing at 11 pm.
